What are dental implants?

When a patient is missing one or more permanent teeth, Dr. Charles Anonye may recommend dental implants in York, Pennsylvania. A dental implant is made up of a titanium implant post and a dental restoration. The dental implant post is surgically placed in your jawbone, where it acts as replacement tooth roots. The dental restoration, which is usually a dental crown, is attached to the top of the dental implant post. At Heritage Dental, we offer free initial consultations for dental implants. We also offer complete dental implants (the post and the crown) for just $2397!

How are dental implants placed?

To place a dental implant, our dentist will first surgically place the dental implant post in the bone socket of the missing tooth. During the healing process, the jawbone will grow around the implant post, making it a permanent part of your smile. The healing process will take about six to twelve weeks. A small connector post called an abutment is then attached to the implant post. Impressions of your teeth are made so that your dental restoration can be constructed. When it is ready, the dental restoration is connected to the abutment.
