If one or more of the teeth in your smile has been marred by chips, deep stains, or other imperfections, it can leave you feeling self-conscious. Many people in a situation like this will consult with Dr. Charles Anonye to explore their cosmetic restoration options. It may be the case that a single tooth can be restored with a crown while other teeth in your smile merely need dental veneers.

A cosmetic restoration crown basically replaces the enamel layer of a tooth. The crown material can be shaded to match your existing teeth or the bright white shade of your dental veneers.

The first step in the process of Dr. Charles Anonye cosmetically restoring the tooth involves forming an abutment. This is done by removing the majority of the enamel layer. This leaves behind a small amount to protect the interior of the tooth. Later on this abutment will anchor your new crown.

Dr. Charles Anonye will then make an impression of the abutment, which is given to a dental lab, that custom-makes your crown. A temporary crown is secured over the abutment to protect it while you wait for the dental lab to complete your permanent crown.

We will call you back in for a brief follow up appointment once the lab has completed your crown. The temporary crown will be removed and your new permanent crown cemented in place.

If you have a tooth that needs cosmetic restoration and you would like to have it fit with a crown, you should call Dr. Charles Anonye at 717-755-2817 to schedule an appointment.
